Sermo eclipses 200,000 physician members in its online “Community with a Purpose”
WorldOne, the global leader in healthcare data collection, insights and intelligence, announced today that the company has completed the integration of its U.S. physician network on the Sermo community platform. In July 2012 WorldOne acquired Sermo, the largest online community of fully verified, licensed physicians in the U.S. Sermo now boasts over 200,000 members, who are united by the company’s mission to improve healthcare globally.

As part of the Health 2.0 Annual Fall Conference in Santa Clara, Calif., WorldOne will present a case study featuring the international relief organization, Floating Doctors, an international relief group using Sermo’s iConsult web and mobile application. iConsult brings physicians together to consult and collaborate on cases in real-time, crowdsourcing their insights and expertise to diagnose and treat individual patients in the moment, anytime, anywhere in the world. Highlights of the Floating Doctors case study include:
- 11 physicians across eight different specialties contributing to the iConsult case within 24 hours
- $2.7 million in medical education and 288 years of cumulative experience converging to help one patient
- Time from post to decision and action within 24 hours – zeroing in on which tests to order saved weeks of indecision and travel, resulting in much improved patient prognosis at very low cost
