SOLOSEC contains the active ingredient secnidazole, a nitroimidazole antimicrobial. It is provided in the form of oral granules, with each packet containing 2 g of secnidazole. The granules include inactive ingredients such as Eudragit NE30D, polyethylene glycol 4000, povidone, sugar spheres, and talc. This formulation is free of gluten-containing grains.
How should I use this medication?
Take this medication by mouth. Take it as directed on the prescription label. Sprinkle the entire contents of the packet onto a small amount of soft food, such as applesauce, yogurt, or pudding. Take the dose within 30 minutes of mixing. Swallow the mixture without chewing. You may drink water after taking the mixture to help in swallowing. Do not mix this medication with liquids. Do not use it more often than directed.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. While it may be prescribed for children as young as 12 years for selected conditions, precautions do apply.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
