Peter Kirk is the CEO of SERMO. Since launching the company in 2000, Peter has grown the organization into an enterprise with over 200 employees in 8 global offices and a global network of close to two million healthcare professionals.
Under Peter’s leadership, SERMO membership has increased over 300 percent in the past two years and has become the #1 Social Network for Doctors globally. Peter has been a true thought leader and innovator in medical crowdsourcing, helping advance heath outcomes across the globe by allowing doctors to work effortlessly in teams at scale. The social network now has close to 800,000 physicians from over 90 different specialties and sub-specialties. SERMO is available in over 150 different countries.
Peter holds a Masters in Finance from London Business School.

Alex joined SERMO in October 2015, and currently manages IT, Operations, Market Research Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Support for SERMO’s global community of doctors. He is tasked with delivering technological and organizational innovation while respecting the regulatory, compliance, legal and business requirements of both a modern social media platform and a traditional market research business.
Prior to joining SERMO, Alex held numerous technology and customer facing leadership positions in the SaaS space, including positions at Lanyon (now Cvent), Active.com & MessageLabs (now Symantec Security Cloud). He enjoys the challenge of balancing business requirements with technological advancement while building a talent driven organization.
Akash Degan is Vice President Business Development - Europe, leading SERMO’s European commercial team from their offices in London, Barcelona & Vilnius.
Akash joined SERMO in 2012 as an Account Manager before successive promotions to Account Director and Senior Account Director. He previously worked at Kantar Operations, having begun his career with UK medical market research agency Gillian Kenny Associates.
Akash holds a BSc in International Business and Modern Languages from Aston University alongside a Postgraduate Certificate in Market and Social Research from the MRS.
