Sermo is an online community for verified physicians and healthcare professionals. Members can exchange perspectives with peers and access relevant resources and paid research opportunities. Community access and features vary by profession.
Who can join Sermo?
Sermo welcomes physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other eligible healthcare professionals. Physicians in postgraduate training can also register. Membership requires identity and professional credential verification. We currently offer four distinct communities: 1. Physicians: licensed MDs and DOs join a global, physician-only network of over 1 million verified doctors to share insights and earn from paid surveys. Join the physician community. 2. APPs: nurse practitioners, midwives, and physician associates/assistants connect in a private space to collaborate on clinical topics and earn for their expertise. Join the APP community. 3. Pharmacists: pharmacists join a dedicated community to exchange knowledge, engage with peers, and earn from medical survey opportunities. Join the pharmacist community. 4. Nurses: registered nurses access their own professional network to share experiences, grow their careers, and get paid for their insights. Join the nurse community.
Other HCPs: dentists, therapists, and additional licensed professionals can join Sermo to stay informed and earn for sharing their perspectives relevant to their fields.
Residents and trainees are also welcome to join Sermo. Those currently enrolled in accredited post-graduate training programs will gain full access to the physician community. Residents are registered under their training specialty and clearly designated in the community as “Resident/Trainee – [Specialty]” to foster transparency and connection. They also receive access to paid surveys specifically tailored to their level and area of training.
Is Sermo free to join?
Yes. Sermo membership is free for eligible, verified healthcare professionals.
How can social networking benefit physicians and healthcare professionals?
Social networking gives physicians and healthcare professionals a way to build professional connections, exchange knowledge, and stay up to date on healthcare developments. On Sermo, members can use their professional community to: – Ask peers questions and share practical experiences. – Discuss medical news and changes affecting their work. – Exchange perspectives on career decisions and workplace challenges. – Connect with colleagues beyond their immediate professional network.
How can doctors maintain patient confidentiality while using social media?
Doctors should protect patient information in every online discussion, including in private or verified professional communities. When sharing clinical experiences: – Remove names, identifying images, and other details that could reveal a patient’s identity. – Consider whether details could identify someone when combined, even if their name is omitted. – Follow applicable privacy laws, professional guidance, and your organization’s policies, including consent requirements. – Remember that posts and messages can be copied or shared beyond their intended audience.
On Sermo, discuss the clinical question while protecting the patient’s identity. Verified membership does not replace your responsibility to maintain confidentiality.
Why should I join Sermo?
Sermo gives physicians and healthcare professionals a place to exchange perspectives with verified peers, find useful resources, and get paid for their expertise through eligible medical surveys.
Join to discuss the realities of your work, hear how colleagues approach professional challenges, and explore resources on career development, finance, and investing. Physicians can also discuss clinical cases and compare treatment experiences through physician drug ratings.
Sermo checks your identity and professional credentials to confirm you’re an eligible healthcare professional. During registration, you’ll be guided through:
– Professional verification: Provide your professional registration number or documentation, such as a healthcare license or hospital ID badge. – Identity verification: Submit identification as requested. You may also be asked to take a selfie to confirm your identity. – Review: Sermo uses verification technology and a dedicated review team to check your information. If we need additional details, the Member Solutions team will help you complete the process.
