Levophed contains the active ingredient norepinephrine in the form of norepinephrine bitartrate salt monohydrate. It is a sympathomimetic amine, administered as an injection through intravenous infusion. This formulation includes sodium chloride and sodium metabisulfite as inactive ingredients, and each milliliter of the solution contains 1 mg of norepinephrine base.
How should I use this medication?
This medication is infused into a vein. It is given by your care team in a hospital or clinic setting. Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once. NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

Do not take this medication with any of the following: -Ergot alkaloids, such as dihydroergotamine, ergotamine, methylergonovine -MAOIs, such as Marplan, Nardil, and Parnate This medication may also interact with the following medications: -Certain medications for depression, such as amitriptyline -Contrast agents used before CT, MRI, or X-ray scans -Digoxin -Medications for diabetes -Oxytocin
