Levophed contains the active ingredient norepinephrine in the form of norepinephrine bitartrate salt monohydrate. It is a sympathomimetic amine, administered as an injection through intravenous infusion. This formulation includes sodium chloride and sodium metabisulfite as inactive ingredients, and each milliliter of the solution contains 1 mg of norepinephrine base.
