- An unusual or allergic reaction to auranofin, gold compounds, other medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives
- Pregnant or trying to get pregnant
- Breastfeeding

- Immunosuppressant medications, such as azathioprine, methotrexate
- Other gold compounds
- Penicillamine
- Phenytoin
- Steroid medications, such as prednisone or cortisone

What should I watch for while using this medication?
Visit your care team for regular checks on your progress. You will need lab work done every month while you take this medication.
This medication can make you more sensitive to the sun. Keep out of the sun. If you cannot avoid being in the sun, wear protective clothing and sunscreen. Do not use sun lamps, tanning beds, or tanning booths.
What are the most serious risks of this medication?
This medicine contains gold and can cause gold poisoning. Your will be monitored for this during treatment.
This medicine should only be given by a healthcare provider who has experience in the use of gold therapy.
