What should I tell my care team before I take this medication?
They need to know if you have any of the following conditions:
- Liver disease
- Too much calcium, phosphorus, or vitamin D in your blood
- An unusual or allergic reaction to paricalcitol, vitamin D, other medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives
- Pregnant or trying to get pregnant
- Breast-feeding

- Aluminum-containing products, such as antacids or phosphate binders
- Cholestyramine
- Digoxin
- Mineral oil
Other medications may affect the way this medication works. Talk with your care team about all the medications you take. They may suggest changes to your treatment plan to lower the risk of side effects and to make sure your medications work as intended.

What should I watch for while using this medication?
Visit your care team for regular checks on your progress. You will need to have important lab work done while you are taking this medication.
You will need to be on a special diet while you are taking this medication. Do not take any non-prescription medications that have vitamin D, phosphorus, or magnesium including antacids, unless directed by your care team. Take calcium only as directed. The extra supplements can cause side effects.
