Dr. Martorell is the Director of The Research Institute in Springfield MA, a site that offers both Infectious Diseases Medical Care and Clinical Trial Services. She has served as a Principal Investigator in HIV and HCV among other Clinical Trials. Dr. Martorell was the recipient of the 2007 Severo Ochoa Award for outstanding contribution to eradicating HIV/AIDS in the minority community, and the recipient of the 2004 American Medical Association Foundation Excellence in Medicine Award. She has also contributed as an author or co-author in HIV and other topics in major journal publications. She obtained her medical degree from The University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, and holds a Masters of Public Health in Health Care Management from Harvard University School of Public Health; and a Fellowship in Health Policy and Minority Health Policy from Harvard University School of Medicine.
